Pittman (Alvy Ray) World War II memoir, [2002?].

The collection consists of a memoir written by Pittman describing his life in the South prior to his enlistment; his combat experiences on the Pacific islands of Roi-Namur, Tinian, Saipan, and Iwo Jima during World War II; and his life after the war. It also includes an account of his anesthesia-induced dreams and flashbacks of the war written by his daughter, Beth Harrison.

Alvy Ray Pittman was born December 5, 1922, in Kokomo, Mississippi. He joined the Marine Corps in 1942 and fought on the Pacific islands of Roi-Namur, Saipan, Tinian, and Iwo Jima.
